Session abstract:

In this year´s 4th edition, the Fintech Panel will again present and discuss hot topics and new developments shaping the Fintech industry.

A special focus will be on Internet Banks. The panel will present case studies and analyse how contenders of incumbent commercial and/or investment banks enter the markets in different jurisdictions and how they develop their businesses.

Further topics will include digital identities and the role of banks in providing such identities as well as developments in the Crypto markets.

Dr. Thomas Zwissler is a partner at German law firm ZIRNGIBL, a full service business law firm with offices in Munich, Berlin and Frankfurt. His practice focuses on Corporate and Banking law as well as capital markets and corporate finance transactions.

He has extensive experience in Private Equity and Venture Capital financing, M&A-and Takeover-Transactions and Outsourcing-Projects. As a founder and leading member of the firms industry group Digital and “Industrie 4.0”, he also advises Fintech companies on regulatory and contractual issues and companies from different industries in connection with business-modelling and business-transformation projects.

Vinay is based in the DFDL Bangkok office and serves as the head of the India Desk, head of the Indonesia Practice and is leading the regional banking, finance & technology practice. With 13 years of transactional and advisory experience, over half of which has been spent in Southeast Asia with DFDL, Vinay has advised a vast spectrum of multinational clients on complex transactions related to energy, infrastructure, mining, information technology, telecommunications, transport and logistics, and agriculture. Given his breadth of experience in the banking and technology sectors, Vinay also serves as the chief point of contact at DFDL for all fintech-related matters. Of late, he has been advising several clients operating in the realm of blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

In addition to his transaction and advisory background, Vinay has extensive experience with Indian court litigation and international dispute resolution.

A regular speaker at various international industry conferences, seminars, and workshops, Vinay has also authored a number of articles and papers published in various newspapers, magazines and journals, including the IPBA Journal, Asian-MENA, ALB, and IBLJ.

Catrina Luchsinger

Catrina Luchsinger Gaehwiller is a Partner in the Swiss lawfirm Froriep Legal AG, based in the Zurich office since 2007.

She advises on regulatory issues and contractual aspects relating to the financial market industry and has a broad experience across acquisition and project-financing, transactions, general corporate work, M&A in the banking sector. She has also been working on Fintech and is an advisor to the Global Blockchain Business Council.

In addition, Catrina acts as a board member for banks, security dealers and fund management companies.
