In 1993, Axel Reeg has established REEG RECHTSANWAELTE, a German niche law firm active in cross-border arbitration and litigation with associated offices in Kuala Lumpur and Madrid.

Having read law at the Universities of Munich, Singapore and Freiburg, Axel is holding a Ph.D. in law and admitted to the Bars in Germany and Spain. He lectures International Commercial Arbitration at the University of Heidelberg. Axel has extensive experience in cross-border dispute resolution, both as an arbitrator (primarily ICC, SAC and DIS), as counsel in international arbitration and before state courts. Axel has a special focus on Dispute Resolution related to Asian and Spanish speaking jurisdictions, acting both as arbitrator and as party counsel in many arbitrations involving international parties in different venues including Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong, Zurich, Madrid and Frankfurt.

Inter alia, Axel Reeg is an immediate past member of the Board of Trustees of CIArb (2013-2020), a vice chair of the DRA Committee of the IPBA. Axel is a member of ICC, ICCA, IBA, DIS, CEA and ASA. He regularly speaks and publishes on international dispute resolution topics including articles and contributions on arbitral tribunals engaging in settlement facilitation and on smart contracts and blockchain arbitration.
